Vlog Episode: I made 30 Paan at home in New York City!

I recently had a paan making adventure that I want to share with you.

My mom was hosting an Eid party in New Jersey where she lives and asked me to make 30 meetha paans! In addition to a lot of kulfi. I started making paan as a hobby and she actually likes my paan. But I had never made so many at one time before. (The kulfi was easier, I do that a lot) I took on the challenge and made a video to share with you. Along the way I tell you about how I came to be so fascinated with paan in the first place.

For those who don’t know: paan is a South Asian street food / delicacy involving lots of different sweet or savory toppings wrapped in a betel leaf.

Hope you enjoy!

Vlog Episode: Diwali in Times Square, New York | Bright Lights & Bollywood Beats | Manhattan | 2023

Bright Lights and Bollywood Beats!

I attended the Diwali festival in Times Square On October 28, 2023 — in the heart of New York City. I got to witness a NYC version of the magic of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, in one of the most iconic and bustling places on the planet. It was a great experience, and I’m excited to share it with you.

In this video, you’ll get to see firsthand the cultures and colors that transformed Times Square into a dazzling Desi spectacle. The center of the world was alive with the spirit of Diwali!

You’ll see the intricate Rangoli designs, the infectious rhythms of Bollywood music, and the mouthwatering aroma of authentic Indian cuisine. I enjoyed the stunning Diwali decorations and the incredible music and dance performances.

Vlog Episode: Gulab Jamun Doughnut, New York | Pakistani Fusion Restaurant | Amazing Nihari and Papree Chat

Azad Kitchen is a Pakistani fusion restaurant in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. It was started by Muhammad Saud, a talented chef and restauranteur who runs a Pakistani restaurant called Alif Cafe in Upstate New York.

Azad Cafe had limited service in its trial location — only 3 nights a week for dinner. Menu was pre-fixed and changed every month. Because it was a limited-run popup, it was hard to get reservations. But luckily I managed and this video shows you the whole incredible experience!

The amazing dishes on the menu included:

– Papree Chat

– Dahi Balle

– Nihari

– Bhindi

– Naan

– Dragonfruit Lassi

– Tonic Aam

– Gulab Jamun Doughnut

– Brown Sugar Cardamom Tea

Their permanent location is opening soon and I’m so excited!

Vlog Episode: London’s legendary Dishoom Restaurant | Is takeaway as good as dine in?

London’s legendary Dishoom is one of my favorite Desi restaurants in the world! Their slogan is “From Bombay With Love” and their food is amazing. They now have multiple locations in the London area.

Whenever I go to London I try to grab a meal there. This time even though I had a reservation at their Carnaby location (in Soho), I unfortunately could not make it, but I still did take out! Let’s see if their takeaway food is just as good as the dine-in meal!
