Chef Dipesh Shinde: Inspiring Desi of the Day

Dipesh Shinde is a Mumbai-native, who since the age of 17 has worked in some of India’s most renowned restaurants including Punjab Delhi and Farzi Cafe (one of Delhi’s first modern Indian restaurants). Shinde comes from a family of chefs, and brings generations of experience to the table including his mastery of a multitude of Indian cooking techniques. Shinde has been lauded for his ability to cook classic Indian dishes as well as regional comfort food; and Kebab aur Sharab is his first U.S. restaurant.

Tejasvi Chandela is one of the great promoters of Indian pastry. At just 22 years old, after training in Paris, she returned to her native Jaipur to open Dzurt in 2013, the first pastry shop in this town of more than three million inhabitants. In 2023, the chef not only managed to consolidate this business, but she also has a second space dedicated to making bean to bar chocolates called All Things.
Chandela also travels around the country and to other training centers around the world to show how compatible traditional Indian techniques and flavors are with modern European-style pastry.

Chef Prasad: Inspiring Desi of the Day

In addition to running his six restaurants, Chef Prasad leads tasting tours of India, hosts private tasting dinners, teaches cooking classes and offers his services at multiple charity events for such groups as the American Liver Institute, James Beard House, the American Red Cross, Share Our Strength, the Connecticut Food Bank and the Food Bank for New York City; he was a celebrity guest chef at Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival to benefit Johnson & Wales University. Sangeeta Khanna: Inspiring Desi of the Day

Sangeeta Khanna is a food and nutrition consultant and the author of the blogs Healthfood Desivideshi and Banaras ka Khana. With a masters degree in Botany, Sangeeta began her career as a research scientist studying cyanobacteria and antioxidants – way back in the 90’s. Today she finds herself not far from science but slightly detoured into the realm of nutrition, health and wellbeing.
