Sadaf Hussain: Inspiring Desi of the Day

Sadaf Hussain was one of the top contenders of MasterChef India in 2016 and is currently a consultant chef based out of Delhi. Sadaf grew up in Ramgarh, a small town in Jharkhand, and always dreamt of being in the food and beverage industry. An animator by training who worked in the development sector, his food journey took proper shape when he moved to New Delhi and chose to adopt travel as a lifestyle. An avid storyteller, he is passionate about exploring the background and origins of the dishes he encounters. Sadaf is a TEDx speaker, has food shows online and runs the popular food blog www.foodandstreets.com. He believes that everything and everyone has a story to tell, and lives to uncover those stories.

Maunika Gowardhan is an Indian chef and author. Maunika’s career in Indian food, spanning over a decade has stemmed from her love for authentic flavours, techniques of cooking and being able to share a fresh perspective on the cuisine. She strives to bridge cultural understanding between the East and the West working tirelessly via her cookery events, books, features, TV appearances and social media presence. Maunika’s new cookbook ‘Thali’ explores the regional diversity of Thalis across communities of India with family recipes, history of spices and how they are eaten. “THALI” her new cookbook out in 2021 has been featured in the Telegraph, Olive Magazine and the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine. Thali has also been chosen as the Book of the month in March 2022 for the Waterstones Jamie Oliver Cookbook Club. Maunika is also the author of ‘Indian Kitchen’.

Chef Aarthi Sampath: Inspiring Desi of the Day

Aarthi Sampath is a New York-based renowned chef, restaurant consultant, food truck expert and TV personality. During her undergraduate program, she got the opportunity to intern at the fabled Michelin-star Junoon in New York City. Aarthi quickly rose through the ranks to become Chef De Cuisine. Later, Aarthi was crowned Executive Chef at American Gymkhana, an upscale Indian restaurant in Orlando, Florida by the founders of Junoon. A solid understanding of Indian cooking backed by practical experience, Sampath’s control over her vision and passion for Indian food brought her into a number of unique spaces. At Junoon, Aarthi was honored to work on The “Billionaire’s Club Dinner” hosted by Prime Minister Modi at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC.

Chef Manju Malhi: Inspiring Desi of the Day

Manju Malhi is a British-born chef and food writer, specialising in Anglo-Indian cuisine. She was brought up in North West London where she grew up surrounded by Indian culture, traditions and lifestyles. In 2004 Malhi published a second book, entitled India with Passion, which covers regional Indian home cuisine, and a third, Easy Indian Cookbook, was released in April 2008. She is also currently working on a 40-part series on British food for Indian broadcaster NDTV. Malhi also writes on Indian food for newspapers and magazines, and has provided voice overs for BBC News 24, BBC World and the BBC Asian Network.
